According to his diary, Joseph Dawson lived at 688 Pine Street, and worked in various places in B.C.

Records were donated to the Nanaimo District Museum in an undocumented transaction and transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives in 1993.

Fonds consists of a rough diary recording daily work hours and location, personal accounts and activities; certificate of competency and dues card from the United Mine Workers of America.
