According to telephone directories from 1956-1964, Herbert Ball was a painting contractor. He lived on Brechin Road with his wife Mabel. He retired in 1967 and died in the early 1980s.
Material was donated to the Nanaimo District Museum in an undocumented transaction and transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives in 1993.
Fonds consists of papers relating to World War I service in England and includes a booklet on World War II civil defense procedures in Vancouver.
