The Chase River Ratepayers Association was formed in 1949 to address community issues related to water, fire services, lighting, garbage, and other local concerns. The first officers were John Carruthers, Alex W. Perry, Margaret Maver, and George Wilkinson. The Association operated over two distinct time periods, the first dating from 1949 to 1956. In 1964, the association was reactivated.

Materials were found in the old Chase River firehall by City staff and transferred to the Archives in 2008.

Fonds consists of records concerning the activities of both the earlier and later associations including minutes (1949-1956 and 1964-1967); a portfolio of correspondance and receipts (1949-1956), and also School District 68 Board of Trustees minutes (1950); financial records including an accounting book (1949-1956), annual financial statements (1950-1955), and a bank account book (1965-1967); a folder with correspondence (1949-1956), a membership list (1967); and a folder of photocopied newspaper clippings.
