Charles Spence and his mother came to Nanaimo from England around 1911. He worked in various mines and built a house a 746 Railway Avenue. Spence died in 1975 at the age of 81.

Material donated by Arnold Spence, son of Charles.

Fonds consists of pay statements from various mines including Nanaimo (Western Fuel Corporation), Wellington Mine (Canadian Collieries, Dunsmuir) and Wellington White Rapids Mine.
