Recording by William Barraclough of Martha Kenny recalling Nanaimo as it was between 1849 and 1876. She mentions businesses and people such as Mr. Bryant; the first postmaster; Alex Mayer's Red House store; and the first schoolhouse on Crace Street. Also includes recollections by Hiram Gough about his parents, the arrival of the Princess Royal and an interview with May Woodman about her family history and experiences as a school teacher.
