The Vancouver Mid-Island Danish-Canadian Club was founded on the 8th of February 1989 with 70 people. A board of directors of five members was elected: Tage Mikkelson (President), Svend Holdt (Vice President), Erik Qwist (Secretary-Treasurer) and Dagny Nielsen and Anne Lise Frederiksen as Social Directors. It was organized as a non-profit social group, focusing on events that highlight Danish culture, customs and food. The purpose of the club was to create and foster a spirit of understanding of the culture and history inherited by being Danish by birth or descent, to promote bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding, to help elderly and lonely Danish people towards a happier life, and to encourage people to serve their community without financial rewards through the Club. The club hosted many traditional Danish holiday events and celebrations, and also focused on carrying on folk dancing and Danish food traditions.
Fonds consists of Constitution and Bylaws, Newsletters (1989 - 2015), Photographs, Financial Statements (1989 - 2002), Meeting Minutes (1989 - 2001), and other miscellaneous items relating to events organized by the club.
