        Quong Jan Yip was born in China on December 19, 1891. He lived at 588 Pine Street during the 1940s and became a Canadian citizen in 1966.
        Material was donated to the Nanaimo District Museum in 1979 (ration card, donated by Ed Lee) 1991 and 1988 (Immigration certificate, donated by Ed Lee) and transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives in 1993.
        Fonds consists of a Chinese immigration certificate with photograph (1912), a certificate of Canadian Citizenship (1966); an untranslated Chinese language document and a World War 2 era ration card.

        Material was originally categorized by Museum staff as Code 13 Box 1: Ethnic and redescribed at the fonds level by Archives staff in 2004.
