        The Northfield Ratepayers Association was incorporated on June 24, 1948. Its purpose was to advocate for better water supply, street lighting and overall improvement of the district. Northfield district official boundaries comprised Sections 18, 19 and 20, Range 6, the part of Section 15 within Block A, Plan 505 and Sections 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, Range 7, Section 15 Range 8, except the parts covered by registered plans 11119R, 6305, 6633, 7082 and 7310 and sections 16, 17 and 18, Range 8 except the part of Section 18 lying north of Esquimalt and Nanaimo railway right-of-way (Mountain District. The first executive in 1948 included Victor Brown (President), Mrs Willgress (Vice President) and Gladys Hartman (SecretaryTreasurer). Issues of interest included improving the school experience for students, fire fighting services, road safety and garbage disposal. The dissolution date of the association is uncertain but appears to be around 1956.
        Material was given to Chris Sholberg of the City of Nanaimo and then donated to the Nanaimo Community Archives.
        Fonds consists of the constitution of the Association, minutes, correspondence and reports related to the issues, activities and works of the Northfield Ratepayer's Association.
