        The Nanaimo Pioneer Society was founded in 1920. By 1923, for unknown reasons, the Society was discontinued. In 1931, the Society was reorganized and continued until 2003. The Society's main function was to bring long-term British Columbia residents together and to celebrate the city's history.
        Some materials were donated to the Nanaimo Museum by the Nanaimo Pioneer Society in 1985 and transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives in 1993. The remainder of the records were donated directly to the Archives in 2003.
        Fonds consists of records related to the governance and activities of the Nanaimo Pioneer Society. Includes bylaws (1937), minutes (1921-23, 1931-37, 1956-2003) correspondence (1932-1993 intermittent), financial records (1931-2003), membership applications, photographs and memorabilia.
