        Born in England in 1873, William Harrison Moore came to Canada around 1897. In Nanaimo, he married Margaret McLellan in 1901 and the couple had at least six children including William Moore Jr (b. 1903), Earl Alexander (1907-1996, spouse Myrtle Coulson), Herbert (1909-1992), Charles Frederick (b. 1911), Constance Irene (b. 1917, spouse James Robinson) and Felicia (1912-1925, died of rheumatic fever). Moore was a mine inspector and manager but also spent some time in the 1910s as a farmer in Kamloops. Moore died in 1936 and Margaret died in 1944. Other family members include John David Caldwell who was married to Christina McLellan. Born in Tennessee in 1875, Caldwell was a wood turner and inventor. Caldwell died in 1914 in Vancouver; Christina died in 1917, also in Vancouver.
        Fonds consists of records of the Moore and Caldwell families, arranged in the following series: 1) Moore papers; 2) Caldwell papers and 3) Photographs.

        Series consists of records generated or accumulated by William H. Moore Sr including a daily work journal, lecture on coal mining problems on Vancouver Island, mining claims, and handwritten notes for what appears to be a lecture or speech.

        Series consists of material related to patents for items created by John David "Jack" Caldwell including a vehicle bell, laundry marking machine and shingle edger. Also includes a sample of the work of the marking machine.
