        Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia in 1912, Mildred Knowles attended the local school until her graduation from Harewood High School. She married George Bryce in 1935 and became the mother of Georgina Beryl in 1938, and two younger twin boys, James Robert and Arthur George, in 1949. Her husband, George Bryce was very active in the United Mine Workers of America union as Secretary-Treasurer and later the municipal council of Nanaimo as City alderman.
        Materials were given to Aimee Greenaway by Georgina Bonkowski, daughter of Mildred Bryce.
        Fonds consists of fourteen notebooks of the work accomplished by Mildred Knowles in Harewood High School, including such subjects as Latin, French, Math, Physics, History, and English; revealing the prevailing curriculum requirements of early twentieth century British Columbia.
