        According to the 1909 British Columbia Directory, James Hardy was an engineer at 'Quarry Digs Portage' and lived on Prideaux Street in Nanaimo.
        Material was donated to the Nanaimo District Museum in an undocumented transaction and transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives in 1993.
        Fonds consists of a booklet which is inscribed "James Hardy, Nanaimo B.C.". and which contains handwritten notes on steam boilers, pressures, etc. Also includes certificates issued to James Hardy for competency as a third class engineer and steam plant operator.
