The Nanaimo Centennial Committee was formed in 1964 to organize local celebrations for the centennial of the union of the two crown colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia in 1866 and Canadian confederation in 1867. The first Committee members included: Frank Ney, H. Hackwood, E.K. Fletcher, F.P. Sloat, W.H. Cochrane, L.J. Wallace, J.B. Litch, Mayor Pete Maffeo and City Clerk Harold Nicholson.
Records were transferred to the City Hall Vault at an unknown date. In 1992, they were transferred to the Nanaimo Community Archives.
Fonds consists of correspondence, guest register inc. photographs, accounts, list of events and Pioneer Medallion Application forms. The applications provide considerable genealogical information.
Title based on the contents of the fonds.
Records were originally described with the 1958 Centennial Committee records; in 2002, they were re-arranged and described as a separate fonds.
